Palm
OS Resources
(Plus)
There are several Palm OS resources
related to Public Health, that I have found to be quite useful. Cost
is always a factor for me, so I located several free or very low cost
applications to make your Palm OS use easier.
iSiloX
4.01 currently costs $19.99, but it is money well
spent. This is a very cool program. iSiloX
installs on your PC (or Mac) and allows you to drop and drag files (Word,
PowerPoint, Excel) into a window then converts them into Palm OS readable
documents - maintaining any hyperlinks originally in the document.
Or you can create your own document, inserting your own hyperlinks and
convert them. There is also
iSilo (no X)
which installs on your Palm - to allow viewing. Go to their website
(http://www.isilo.com/support/index.htm)
for manuals and other downloads.
Downloads for iSilo:
Zoonotic Diseases Tutorial or get
other downloads at (http://www.anmldr.com/).
Medical Officer Guide
NIOSH Pocket Guide
Anthrax Information
West Nile Virus 2003 Information
USAMRIID's Medical Management of
Biological Casualties Handbook v4.02
RediReader 3.0 (free)
CDC STI Guidelines 2002 for PALM OS (RediReader03 and Guidelines
included in .zip file)
Adobe
Reader for Palm OS v3.05 is a must.
You can download any document created in .pdf format right
into your palm. If you have Adobe Acrobat®
Professional 6.0®
or Adobe Reader 6.0®,
all of your hyperlinks will be maintained. (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readerforpalm.html)
Download any one (or all) of the PDA ready
documents from the
Department of Pathology, College
of Veterinary Medicine, the University of Georgia:
Some freeware or shareware I have also found
useful:
Journal Club
- calculates 2x2 tables, providing; PPV, NPV, OR, number to treat, prevalence
calculations, RR, sensitivity, specificity, likelihood ratio (-), and
likelihood ratio (+).
Once you install the program, you have to enter a
registration code (3free3).
It's the same for everyone, it just activates the program. (http://www.fppda.com/timjc.html)

Mobipocket Reader Pro for Palm

Mobipocket
Reader PC are two great programs
that allow you to view documents on your Palm OS or PC.
